SCENTSTACKS

Privacy

Effective October 2, 2026. This describes the supplied launch configuration.

What stays on your device

Saved stacks and optional preferences are stored in this browser’s local storage. They are not synced to an account. You can remove saved stacks in My stacks and clear all local settings there. Anyone using the same browser profile may be able to see them.

Product names, links and descriptions

If you use name discovery, your product name is sent through Vercel AI Gateway to Google’s Gemini model and Perplexity web search to locate a public product source. For name, link or description discovery, the public page text or description you submit is sent through Vercel AI Gateway to Google’s Gemini model to identify scent notes. Do not submit account links, private information or credentials. We strip common tracking and unknown query parameters from product URLs and never forward your browser cookies. Name and link results may be cached in server memory for up to 24 hours; pasted descriptions are not stored by the application. A temporary hashed request identifier is used for basic abuse limits. The hosting and AI providers process requests under their own policies. Your product name, source link or selected mood is kept in this browser’s session storage only while moving from the homepage to the finder, then removed.

The complete scent story

The quiz draft is saved in this browser until you start afresh or clear site data. When you compose a preview, your answers are sent to our server to check product coverage and write your introduction; preview answers are processed without creating an order record. Only an unfamiliar favorite’s name, link or source-page content is sent to the AI lookup service, not your name or personal dedication. When you continue to purchase, your answers and prepared story are stored privately with our order-storage provider (Upstash). An unfamiliar favorite’s name or link may be processed through the AI services described above. Stripe processes payment and the email address you enter at checkout; we do not receive card details. Resend sends your purchased story to that address. Unpaid drafts expire after 48 hours on the server. Paid stories and delivery records are retained for one year. Your email’s private link grants access to your story, so keep it private.

Basic site delivery

Your hosting provider processes requests and may record technical information such as IP address, requested page and browser details to serve and protect the site. Retention depends on the hosting configuration.

Optional measurement

Analytics is off by default. Vercel Web Analytics loads only after you allow optional analytics and measures visits to public pages without analytics cookies. We remove query strings and fragments from measured page URLs and exclude private story pages. Quiz answers, email addresses, private notes and free-text searches are not sent to Vercel Web Analytics. Any configured Google Analytics measurement also requires this permission. You can change your choice using Privacy choices in the footer.

Email and contact

Purchased stories are delivered through Resend. Automated emailing of free saved stacks is not currently available. The email draft option opens your own mail app and does not submit your email address to ScentStacks. Our contact page provides the support email for questions about your purchase.

External sites

Retailer and Pinterest links open external services with their own privacy practices. A shared stack URL includes the chosen product, mood, optional layers and avoided note IDs, but no account or email data. Review a link before sharing if you consider your scent preferences private.

Your choices

You can use the discovery tools without optional analytics. Clear device data from My stacks, or manage site data in your browser. This policy must be updated if the operator adds accounts, advertising, email subscriptions or additional data processing.

Allow optional analytics to help us understand which catalog products and pages are useful? Discovery and saving work either way.
