We record product identity, category, source URL and the date the source was reviewed. The notes shown are selected brand-listed notes, not necessarily a complete note pyramid. We do not infer ingredients, safety, concentration, longevity or projection from a note list.
How the ranking works
The launch engine gives four points to each shared normalized note and two points to each shared editorial scent profile. It ranks within each product role and omits products with no connection. Note preferences filter candidates before selection. This is a transparent sorting rule, not a scientific compatibility score.
How interpretation is labeled
Scent moods and pairing explanations are our interpretations. Matching notes can offer a connection, but they cannot tell you exactly how two formulas will smell together. The combinations have not been tested as complete routines.
Similarity is not a dupe claim
Similar-scent results share notes or an editorial profile. They are not exact copies, and we make no unsupported claims about relative strength, price or longevity.
Merchants and money
Available offers can be sorted by known availability and verified price. Unknown values are not treated as cheap or in stock. Commission is not an input to recommendation ranking. Approved affiliate links may earn a commission and are labeled beside the shopping link.
Names, links and scent notes
When you type a perfume name and brand, AI-assisted web search looks for a public product source. It must then pass the same page-reading checks as a link you provide. When you bring a public product link, we first check our sourced directory. For other pages, we respect the site’s automated-access instructions and read a bounded portion of the public product description. AI extracts explicitly stated scent notes with supporting text. We check those excerpts against the source and use the same note-and-mood ranking for product suggestions. If the page is blocked, ambiguous or does not list notes, we ask for a clearer description rather than inventing a profile. AI results are labeled and may contain errors.
Our best selling edits
A brand-listed best-seller badge links to the brand’s supporting collection or product page. Additional selections are marked ScentStacks edit. These are unranked editorial collections, not independent market-wide sales charts. We record a source-review date and do not invent sales counts or ratings.
Personal preferences
Saved stacks and note preferences stay in this browser. We do not create an account or a cross-device profile. A future Scent DNA profile would require a separate, clear explanation of what is saved and how it is used.
